Eurocup Clio

Despite the best attempts of Marc Guillot and Simone di Luca, the experienced Mike Verschuur set the fastest time in qualifying as well as the second-quickest time giving him pole position for the first two races of the 2012 Clio Eurocup.

After two collective practice sessions today, Friday, the Clio Eurocup drivers had a third session to close the first day of the Spa-Francorchamps meeting.

Mike Verschuur (Equipe Verschuur) was the first to go for it with a time of 2m 50.386s before his rivals began to push catching the Dutchman. Jordi Palomeras (Milan Competition), Rafeael Villanueva (Milan Competition) and then Marc Guillot (Milan Competition) all topped the time sheets until Verschuur got back in front with a lap in 2m 48.380s.

He set the two quickest times clinching his 2nd and 3rd pole positions in the Clio Eurocup. In qualifying for each heat he finished ahead of Marc Guillot, Rafael Villanueva and Robert Van den Berg (Harders Plaza Racing). Thus, the first two rows on the grid will be the same for each race at Spa this weekend.
