Formula Renault 3.5

Formula One partners with Renault since 2007, Red Bull Racing is linking up with World Series by Renault this season. The two-time FIA Formula One Constructors’ World Champions will be present at all seven meetings, giving the public a chance to see the RB6, the car that has taken them to Formula One glory, put through its paces by experienced drivers. The first to do so will be 2011 Formula Renault 3.5 Series runner-up Jean-Eric Vergne of Scuderia Toro Rosso, at Motorland Aragon in May.

In its efforts to strengthen the links that have made World Series by Renault the ideal stepping stone to motorsport’s very highest level, Renault Sport Technologies has joined forces with Red Bull Racing, who will be laying on entertainment at all of the 2012 WSR meetings. Current Red Bull Racing driver and double Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel made the switch straight from Formula Renault 3.5 Series to Formula One in 2007.

As well as enjoying free admission, WSR race-goers will have the privilege of seeing the RB6 in action in two or three exhibition drives each day. Fans will also to get up close to the cars and meet the Red Bull drivers, while the team will also be taking up residence at the World Series by Renault tented village.

“We are delighted to welcome Red Bull Racing to World Series by Renault,” said Jean-Pascal Dauce, Director of Motorsport Renault Sport Technologies. “This agreement adds a new dimension to the partnership between Red Bull Racing and Renault, and should help increase the visibility of our events, while providing a unique marketing platform for our subsidiaries. More than anything else, though, it is an amazing opportunity for the fans, who have followed us in great numbers since 2005, with 4,300,000 having flocked to our events over the years. As well as the attractions of the track and the paddock, they can now see the FIA Formula One World Championship-winning car in the flesh, driven by world class drivers, and all free of charge. What is more, the partnership with Red Bull Racing provides an additional source of motivation for the drivers we nurture and prepare for the very highest level.”

The world championship-winning Red Bull-Renault RB6 will make its WSR debut at the season's opening meeting at Motorland Aragon in Spain on 5-6 May 2012, driven by French driver Jean-Eric Vergne. New to Formula One this year, the Frenchman will be returning to a series he knows inside out.

“I feel right at home in World Series by Renault,” said the Toro Rosso driver. “I spent three years competing at these meetings: two seasons in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and one in Formula Renault 3.5 Series. I know a lot of people, including a number of drivers who I’ve faced at several levels during my career. I'll be taking a seat in the RB6 in front of the World Series by Renault fans and will be doing everything I can to put on a good show for them.”

Also taking demo drives in the RB6 over the course of the season will be Daniel Ricciardo, another World Series by Renault graduate, with experience of both Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and Formula Renault 3.5 Series, and Sebastien Buemi, who competed in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 in 2006. Renault Sport Technologies and the FIA Formula One World Champions also have a number of other initiatives lined up with a view to helping WSR drivers prepare better for the step up to the pinnacle of motorsport.
