Eurocup Clio

The three contenders for the Clio Eurocup title had to make sure they come out on top in the weekend’s single qualifying session.

All the drivers were running together in a pack and the positions changed each time they crossed the finishing line. The Milan Competition team did the best job by putting Jordi Palomeras in first place mid-way through the session in front of Marc Guillot. Oscar Nogues was third, and the best Mike Verschuur could do was ninth!

The drivers all came in to have their tyre pressures adjusted. Verschuur fought his way up to fourth, which acted as a trigger. Nogues and then Christian Ricciarini both improved and the Italian went into first place in 2m 07.374 secs front of the Spaniard.

But the battle wasn’t over yet! Palomeras set out for his final flyer and clinched pole for race 1 while Nogues got the better of Ricciarini. It was Palomeras’s first pole of the season while Nogues filled second spot.

Nogues took pole for race 2 in front of Palomeras. But it was a disastrous session for Verschuur who will start from tenth place in both Saturday’s and Sunday’s races.
