Eurocup Clio

Massimiliano Pedalà (Composit Motorsport), winner of race one earlier in the day, sealed his second victory of the weekend this afternoon. The result moves the Italian top of the championship, ahead of Josh Files (Team Pyro), who finished second. Thomas Fjordbach (Polar Seafood Racing) completed the podium.

Thomas Fjordbach was fastest in qualifying and started the race on pole, ahead of Massimiliano Pedalà and Oscar Nogues (RMS Engineering). Josh Files and Nicolas Milan (Team LMV CL Brakes) lined up in fourth and fifth respectively.

Nikola Belohradski (Lema Racing Team) and Gonzalo Martin de Andrés (SMC Junior Motorsport) collided on lap one, while Thomas Fjordbach successfully defended his position from Massimiliano Pedalà. Josh Files, meanwhile, took advantage of the duel between Oscar Nogues and Nicolas Milan to move up to third.

Oscar Nogues went off on lap two, while Nicolas Milan picked up a drive-through penalty for failing to leave the pitlane correctly. Massimiliano Pedalà found an opening and passed Thomas Fjordbach a lap later, but could not find a way to shake off the Dane.

The front pair then engaged in an all-out battle for victory, with Pedalà eventually crossing the line first. Josh Files was awarded second place after Thomas Fjordbach received a penalty for exceeding the track limits. Several other penalties were applied after the race, shaking up the standings even further. Ivan Pulic (Lema Racing Team) took fourth place, ahead of Fabian Danz (Jenzer Motorsport), Facundo Della Motta (Milan Competition), Julien Neveu (Autosport GP), Manuel Leon-Sotelo (SMC Junior Motorsport), Nicolas Milan and Denis Gibaud (Milan Competition).

What they said

Massimiliano Pedalà: "It was very important for me to gain points on the leaders after my mistake at Imola, and my poor performance on the Sunday at Spa. I’ve come away with a double victory, so it’s mission accomplished."

Josh Files: "We had various problems and I think we could have been quicker, particularly in qualifying. We’ll study the data closely to see what we can change to fix things."

Thomas Fjordbach: "After finishing the Spa meeting without any points, I absolutely had to bounce back this weekend. I may not have been able to win, but the two pole positions prove that the potential is there."
