Formula Renault 3.5
With the first collective testing session scheduled at Paul Ricard on 13-14 March, the virtual kick-off of the 2012 World Series season is around the corner, and Pons Racing is completing its preparation for the important rendez-vous in France.
The stalwart World Series team, one of the first to announce its 2012 plans, has been intensively preparing its 2012 campaign during the winter months and has recently taken delivery of the 2012 cars, which are currently undergoing final assembly at the team’s factory near Barcelona.
Next week will see a further build-up in the final pre-season process as Zoel Amberg and Yann Cunha, the two drivers signed for 2012-13, will join the team for a retreat with the management and the technical team and work on the simulator to further familiarize with their enhanced working environment.
With the preparation programme perfectly on schedule, the team is completely determined to achieve its objectives for the forthcoming season.
Emilio de Villota, Team Manager: “One of the advantages of having a two-year programme defined well in advance, is that we have had the time and the right mindset to plan everything calmly, work thinking mediumand long-term, and take great care of every detail. We are looking forward to finish preparing the new cars next week and to do some mental and technical training with Zoel and Yann, ahead of the Paul Ricard test. This will be the beginning of a new two-year cycle at Pons Racing, and we are committed to come-back to the forefront and have Zoel and Yann growing with us.”
Zoel Amberg: “I have been spending the last couple of months at home in Switzerland, busy with physical preparation for the big step ahead in my career that the World Series represents, but now I am anxious to hit the track. Next week, when we will be at the factory, working with the team on the cars and on the simulator, doing the seat and all that, the adrenalin will definitely start to raise…”
Yann Cunha: “I cannot wait to be at Paul Ricard for the first test. It was nice to be in Brazil during the summer period there, and to be exercising and training, but now is time to leave home and join the team and the new car. I have decided to move to Barcelona so that I can stay near the team as from next week and not cross the Atlantic constantly during the race season, in order not to lose time and energy and focus completely on the championship."
