Last weekend the World Series by Renault was the centre of attention with the exclusive presentation of the new Clio Cup! It is the competition version of the new Renault Clio, with which it shares the same lines and style, also present in the Var after being unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. It has been inspired by the shape of the DeZir and the enthusiasts immediately fell in love with it. At the same time the Renault Design team was on the spot to showcase its work, not far from the DeZir and R-Space concept cars.

The unveiling of the DeZir concept car at the 2010 Paris Motor Show gave a glimpse of Renault’s new trends to modernize its design and make it an innovative brand in the domain of the motor car. At the end of September the French make caught people’s imagination by unveiling the latest evolution of the car spearheading its range, the Clio, several versions of which were on show in the Renault Village on the Paul Ricard circuit. The new Renault Clio’s design is inspired by the shape of the DeZir of which it reproduces the style and the pure, sparkling lines.

The trend was confirmed with the presentation in Paris of the new Clio R.S 200 EDC and then at Paul Ricard by that of the new Clio Cup. Carlos Tavares, the Renault Group Operations general manager, is the man in charge of this car, which will be used in the Clio Eurocup races in 2013. Eagerly awaited by all motor sporting enthusiasts, it has the same lines as the series production version enabling the public to identify the latest Renault style, which is entering a new era.

This attention-grabbing arrival on the track was continued in the village with a stand run by the Renault Design team. Thus, the spectators were able to judge the amount of work that has to be carried out to define the new lines of a range and the design of the model. The graphic artists and Renault designers put on various demonstrations showing all the stages of the creation of a vehicle, from its plans on a tablet up to the construction of a scale model. Eric Diemert, the Renault Sport Technologies design manager, also attended the World Series by Renault underlining the cohesion of the French make’s design policy for the years to come.

With the presentation of the new Clio Cup on the Paul Ricard circuit and that of the new Clio R.S 200 EDC in Paris, the World Series by Renault took a step into the future and proved that the competition cars follow the trend driven by the series production models.
