Formula Renault 3.5

Last weekend on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, Daniel Ricciardo, who raced in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and the World Series by Renault before moving up to Formula 1, was back at the Renault meeting. The Australian thrilled the crowd at the wheel of the Red Bull RB6 for the Red Bull Renault F1 Show doing doughnuts and hitting the rev limiter on the V8 Renault engine. He took advantage of the event to talk about the beginning of his young, promising career.

Daniel Ricciardo, former Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and FR 3.5 Series driver is now in Formula 1 in the Red Bull nursery squad, Toro Rosso. Just when he was about to go out in the Red Bull RB6 to thrill the Belgian crowd he was able to see how far he had come since he left Australia.

“It’s true that I had to make sacrifices,” explained Ricciardo. “It was difficult leaving Australia at the age of seventeen and not seeing your mates any more. It’s not always easy to remain in contact and to find yourself alone facing your destiny. But that’s what I’ve always wanted. Since I was knee high to a grasshopper I’ve always dreamed of racing in Formula 1. I had to make sacrifices but that’s what dreams are all about. And I’m very happy today. I can’t complain as I’m where I want to be. I’m fulfilling my dream and I want to enjoy every second of it!”

After running at Spa on Saturday and Sunday Daniel headed off to Canada where he will race in the next F1 grand prix.
