Luciano Bacheta confirms his potential in Barcelona

The Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup teams gathered in Barcelona this week (March 09-10) for their second collective test and the Austrian Interwetten.com Junior Team created the impression of being well prepared for the upcoming championship. Interwetten.com driver Luciano Bacheta was able to finish in the Top 3 in all test session (3rd in test1, 1st in test2 and 2nd in test3). As second fastest driver overall the young Brit confirmed his potential. “The team worked well and we were able to find a good base setup”, explains a happy 19 year old Luciano. “I’ve definitely got my sights on the title this season.”

His Interwetten.com Junior team share this hope. “We are totally satisfied with the test results”, is the clear summary of team manager Michael Schneider. “Luciano confirmed what we knew all from the beginning – with him we have a good chance to fight for the championship.”

With the track iced up in places testing was not an option on Tuesday morning. Weather conditions were more settled in the afternoon as the team concentrate on long runs and setup adjustments for the race distance. “Luciano’s pace was impressive”, commented Michael Schneider the performance of the Brit. “We didn’t used new tires on the first day and he still was able to finish third.” During the second test day they focused on qualifying setups. “To go quick, it’s all going to be about precise driving”, explains Luciano Bacheta who dominated the morning session. In the final test session he beat the Formula Renault 2.0 track record with a time of 1:44,086 minutes. The only one who went even faster and kept him away from being the quickest driver overall was the Italian Daniel Mancinelli.

Could it run any better for the Interwetten-Crew right now? “It always can. We will work hard to tie on this accomplishment in the future”, said team manager Schneider. “We plan to enter two more cars for the Eurocup. That’s why we try to find strong team mates for Luciano. We want to fight for the top places in both the Driver and the Team championships.”

The next collective test sessions will be held in Magny Cours on March 15-16 before the tests continue in Motorland Aragon on March 24-25 and Hockenheim on March 29-30.
