Two outstanding third places in BRNO
With two outstanding third place performances Luciano Bacheta finishes the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup season’s third race weekend in Czech Brno. Sandro Lukovic achieves places thirteen and twelve at his first formula action.
After the excellent result on Saturday, another podium was aimed for on Sunday. The same as the day before, the start was the key to success. Luciano Bacheta had already improved by one place before the first bend and occupied fourth place. Later on he was able to fight his way onto third place. “The starting phase of the race was extremely tense”, reports the 20 year old. “My main goal today was to arrive ahead of Korjus as far as possible.” The young Brit managed to score a whole eight points of the top of the table this weekend. “The gaps in the league are getting tighter- it nearly seems as if a new season was beginning.”
Sandro Lukovic however barely missed his first points again. The Austrian crossed the finishing line in twelfth place. “Unfortunately I switched to second gear too soon at the start. Otherwise I would have been able to achieve points”, said Lukovic slightly disappointed. “Apart from that, I am quite happy with my first formula racing weekend.” Team manager Michael Schneider agrees: “Sandro certainly has yet a lot to learn but I reckon he has the capability to establish himself in the top ten during this season.” At the moment he is still lacking racing experience, but he should be able to collect plenty of that in the remaining races.
The next opportunity will present itself in 2 weeks from 19th to 20th June on the French Magny track.
