Formula Renault 2.0

The 2013 version of the Formula Renault 2.0 took to the track for the first time in public in front of the FR 2.0 Eurocup teams on the Montmelo circuit today, Saturday. Jake Dennis, winner of the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC (North European Cup) was chosen to give it its first run.

“This new Formula Renault is great to drive,” said Dennis. “It feels much sharper and the aero is different. You feel that under braking and on the exit from slow corners. That’s going to help us drivers at the end of the races when the tyre performance begins to drop off. Renault’s done a great job. It was a big honour for me to be invited to drive it in public in front of the teams. My first impressions were very positive and I can’t wait for 2013 to get back behind the wheel again.”

After unveiling the car on the pit lane Dennis did a couple of laps of the track in front of the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup team managers and the Renault Sport engineers.

“We’re very happy and the run went off very well,” said Julien Jehanne, the Renault Sport Technologies circuit manager, who has been involved in the development of the new car. “The teams have given it a very favourable reception. In just a couple of laps Jake was able to feel the difference compared to the present F.R 2.0. It’ll be a real bonus for the teams to work with this new car. It’s a big step forward. It should be around I.5 secs quicker per lap compared to the current model and the drivers will love it!.”

This car will be used by the field of the Formula Eurocup 2.0 in 2013 in the ninth season of the World Series by Renault.
