Formula Renault 3.5
Russian drivers Mikhail Aleshin and Anton Nebylitskiy have signed full season contracts to fill the seats in Team RFR for the 2012 season of the World Series by Renault. The full Russian line up reinforces the patriotism from the only Russian team in the Series.
“This year we’ve decided to select only Russian drivers on our team,” says co-owner of the team Dmitry Sapgir. “Unfortunately, this doesn’t as yet apply to all members working in the team, but we hope this will develop in future to also have Russian technicians. Both drivers are very fast racers, we’ve worked with Anton for several years already, and we also had a chance to work with Mikhail during the 2011 season, when he competed for us at Hungaroring.”
Team RFR (ex KMP Racing) made its debut in 2009 in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series round at the Monaco Grand Prix. The team has had varied success over the past three seasons, constantly developing and taking several podiums along the way. This year Team RFR has brought in new engineers who have race wins within the Series under their belts, in particular Christophe Melec.
“It will be great to come back to the Series with the only Russian team,” says 2010 World Series by Renault Champion Mikhail Aleshin. “Competing under our country’s flag is a tremendous responsibility for us. Besides, everybody knows that this season the Series will feature a fantastic new racecar with a more powerful engine and lots of other technical improvements. This is also certainly a challenge for us. I’m sure we’ll manage it, and fans all over the world will see Russians on the podium many times.”
“We will do everything we can to achieve the best results,” notes Anton Nebylitskiy. “I’m sure I can say the same for all our team! I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the new racecar and throw all my experience into achieving this goal.”
Sponsors of Team RFR include Norilsk Nickel and LUDING.
