Motorland Aragon

The World Series by Renault is always close to its fans. Each year it innovates to give the spectators a high-quality spectacle both on the track and in the paddock with the shows/games and the various exhibitions they can visit. At Motorland Aragon, the 2012 innovation in the Village is a tent-like building in which the public can see different aspects of the Renault universe.

It is called the Corridors of Time and it plunges the spectators into the history of the French make. The first display consists of two impressive-looking cars, the 1923 Torpedo Skiff and the record-breaking Renault 40 CV. They are eternal witnesses to Renault’s glorious past and seem oblivious to the passage of time and the flashes of the cameras.

The next section gives the spectators a look at cars that also marked their era like the Group B Renault 5 (1984) and the Alpine Group 4 A110, which take them back to the mythic years of rallying. The next car is right up to date as it is the Mégane R.S N4 that was unveiled at the end of 2010: since then it has shone in the two-wheel drive category in rallies.

When the spectators open another curtain they find themselves face to face with a new universe - a blue background that shows off the Renault 8 Gordini and the Clio RS Gordini. Then there is a passage to the engine room where the motors can be seen close up as a celebration of the 110 years of Renault’s technical expertise in this field.

The best is for the end with Jabouille’s Renault RS01, the first F1 car to bear the famous ‘Losange’ badge whose turbo engine revolutionised Formula 1. To bring the visitor up to date the latest 3.5-litre Formula Renault is on display beside it as well as the Mégane Trophy and the Clio Cup that can be seen racing. The spectators leave the exhibition with their appetites whetted to see these cars going at it hammer and tongs out on the track.
